Polls show Harper and His Team Headed in the Right Direction:Up!

A Picture Is Worth a 1,000 Words?

You can say what you want about Stephen Harper and his Conservative team but after all the Omnibus bills and what have you they are headed in the right direction.

That would be up, up by 1 % in the most recent poll.

This poll was also conducted after the first round of negative Tommy advertising put out by the Conservatives.

There will be all sorts of crying that the poll is not legitimate( There always is) or that it is too far from the next election to matter, but this poll confirms one thing.

It confirms what the media has been saying since the last election and it’s why the poll hasn’t been discussed that much today.

It’s this: The MSM Pundits have been predicting that the Liberals ( Marijuana Bob,Justin and Crew) are splitting the socialist vote with Tommy( gotta love the Carbon Tax) Mulcair.

The MSM hates it when they are right and the Prime Minister and the Conservatives come out on top.

It’s a good warning for the two opposition parties. They have a little over two years to get their act TOGETHER or risk being steam rolled.

Personally I don’t think any merger will happen until after the 2015 election. The Liberals and the NDP are made up of some pretty strong-willed members( especially the NDP) and they will sit tight and see what happens.

Contrary to an earlier poll I think Justin will have to spend at least one term in opposition where at leat he will be able to negotiate any merger or whatever from a position of strength.

What do you thinkwill happen on the way to Election 2015?

Etobicoke Center-The Supreme Court Rules!

Ted wins the election all over again!

In a ruling that probably shocked no one( especially readers of this blog), except maybe for Borys Wrzesnewskyj, the Supreme Court ruled that Conservative MP Ted Opitz can keep his seat and that the election results of May 2011 will stand.

The shocking thing was that the ruling was close. It was 4-3.

The court made the right call for the right reasons. They said that it would have been wrong for them to over turn an election result like this as it would have paved the way for more challenges.

It also is a rebuke of Elections Canada who will now have a little over two years to clean up its act as they prepare for the Canadian election or 2015.

The big loser in all this? Borys. He spent over $300,000 of his own money fighting this case.

Did the supreme court do the right thing? Did the Ontario court make a mistake in the first place throwing out the election results?

I think yes, what do you think?

Christy Clark Threatens to Trip the Circuit Breakers!

Christy Clark: Sorry Justin but nobody takes center stage from me!

Not wanting to be one-upped on the news high-lites by the likes of Justin Trudeau, Knucklehead Premier Christy Clark used the occasion of the opening of Trudeau’s coronation to tell the world she will withhold electricity if the pipeline goes ahead without her okay.

One problem with what Clark said is that if and when it gets to that point she will either have been ousted by her own party or sent packing by an angry electorate.

Justin Trudeau on the other hand, well, his world, is about to get a whole lot more exciting after announcing tonight that his hat is in the ring to lead the Liberal Marijuana Party of Canada to oblivion.

I am sure The Prime Minister is sitting back thinking this is the best thing that could have happened to him and the Conservative party.

Trudeau, if as expected, waltzes to the LMPofC leadership more or less uncontested, he will have more than Prime Minister to contend with.

Tommy Mulcair is no dummy and wants to hold onto the title of Patron Saint of Quebec. Trudeau will not get seats in his home province without a fight.

A fight that bodes well for Conservative Party fortunes across Canada as both the NDP and the LMPofC clash and prepare to split whatever vote is out there allowing Harper’s team to come up through the middle and win seats they don’t currently have.

It’s also possible, although I never take the electorate for granted, that the CPC will pick up additional seats with the new riding redistribution under way and expected to be in place before the 2015 campaign.

This should make for a larger majority in 2015 than they have now.

Speaking of elections,Liberals in BC complained during the 2011 federal campaign that they were tarred and feathered with the Gordon Campbell Liberal brush. Just wait until they get painted with the Christy Clark ” I am a federal Liberal in my heart brush”

They will also have the Ghost of Justin’s old man to contend with. For years the west has wanted in and now that we are ” aint no man named Trudeau going take that away from us”

The next LMPof C leader has his work cut out for him. ( it will be no cakewalk for Mulcair either, as by the time 2015 rolls around, Adrian Dix and the BCNDP will have had two years to screw up enough things to have their share of doors slammed in their faces too)

For Justin Trudeau to succeed and show the country he will do politics different and more exciting, he will have to be just like his dad.

He will have to be like his dad in that he will have to stand at the ready with his middle finger, the only difference being he will have to wave it at his own party establishment rather than the electorate in Salmon Arm,BC.

The folks in the LMPofC establishment will no doubt try and refine Justin’s image, something that he cannot allow to happen.( Look for fallout here too!)

What do you think will happen?

The Premier”s Office Revolving Door Revolves !

Pretty Soon these people will be running into each other!

Once again the hot corner in Politics proves to be working in the Premier’s office.

Today after nine months of employment Ken Boessenkool resigned after an incident he deemed ” an incident he acted inappropriately”

I am not going to speculate what may have happened, there are enough different versions on different mainstream and non mainstream media websites.

What I will do is question why it took two weeks to complete the resignation if he apologized immediately and ask why the premier is not coming clean once again.

I understand Mr.Boessenkool’s family reads but what’s worse: Knowing the truth or reading all the rampant speculation.

The best thing of course would be for Ken to make a statement and clear the air so to speak unless of course there is more to this than meets the eye.

This of course is yet another black eye on the Clark Government, a black eye that will get worse until the cause is released.

Of course Clark’s new replacement also has some explaining to do.

If this just all happened this Last night/this morning why would you give up a stable career job as board chair at BC Hydro for a job that will probably die out by May 2013 at the latest?

What do you think?

Is there more here than meets the “Black” eye?

Prime Minister Stephen Harper: Statesman of the Year!

Well Done Mr. Prime Minister!

Nice job Mr. Prime Minister, Statesman of the Year!

The award, given to those who champion human rights and freedom, is no doubt an honor for the Prime Minister as it is for those of us who worked hard to put him in a position to receive it.

Prime Minister Harper is a principled leader who is not afraid to take strong stands on the issues that matter as evidenced by the recent closing of the embassy in Iran.

With all the economic turmoil and instability in the world, Canada is lucky to have a leader like Stephen Harper.

Well Done sir and thank you for making Canada look good once again on the world stage!

Quebec Election: It’s a Minority for the PQ

That’s Premier Justin s’il vous plait!

So the results are in and the PQ under Pauline Marois has won. ( Currently PQ-56 LIB-48 CAV-19 QS-2

Sure they have replaced Jean Charest and his government but only by the slimmest of margins ( Charest himself lost his seat)

Marois becomes the first female Premier of Quebec.

However the numbers of tonight are no resounding endorsement of the PQ, nor are they a mandate for a referendum.

That idea is pretty much dead.

With the CAQ winning 18 seats and pledging not to discuss referendums or federalism for 10 years coupled with the Liberal Party snapping at her heels, Marois’s wings have been clipped.

Tonight’s result is simply a statement by the people of Quebec that it’s time for a change.

With the two opposition parties in a position to topple the new government, Marois will have to stay in line.

I think the CAQ are the big winners and actually hold the balance of power with their 18-20 seats depending upon final numbers.

They have the most to gain from any Marois shenanigans if the folks in Quebec choose to dial-up real change the next time. They will have to be at the top of their game to look like a government in waiting.

By my count ( I have history watching over me) the PQ government should last about 2.5 years giving the Liberal Party a short time to find a new leader. Given Charest’s loss of his seat and the hunt for his replacement, I would expect no BS from them either. ( This is a tough assignment for the Liberals given that there seems to be no heir apparent waiting in the wings.

Unless..is this where the savior Trudeau will step up to the plate?

Rumors are that he will run federally but will this give him cause for thought and a graceful way to bow out of federal politics?

What do you think of the results out of Quebec tonight?

Quebec: Polls Close in a little over 2 Hours!

Vive le Canada!

The summer election that nobody wanted except maybe for Jean Charest will come to an end when the polls close around 8pm Eastern time.

It should be an interesting evening. Last minute polling shows either a PQ minority or a PQ majority.

Keep in mind that lat minute Alberta polling showed a Wild Rose Victory and we all know how that turned out.

Things to watch tonight:

How will the leaders do, especially Jean Charest.

Will the federalist vote split allow the PQ to win ridings they shouldn’t.

How will the Francophone people vote?

If the PQ wins, will the margin of victory be close enough so that Marois will not talk about a referendum in her Victory speech?

Who will be the official opposition?

If the Liberals get throttled will this be the continuation of a country-wide trend sending the party the way of the Dodo bird?

What about the CAQ, are they for real?

If a PQ majority will the markets crater tomorrow?

We know already that the voter turnout is higher than the last provincial election, what does this mean? Traditional in Canada it means that change is in the air, however maybe not in Quebec.

It should be an interesting night. What do you think the answers to those questions will be?

Marois is Not even Elected yet and She is already Threatening Harper!

Marois: Get your dukes up Harper I am coming to get you!

Recent polls the weekend before the Quebec election show the Pauline Marois led PQ on their way to a slim majority. We can hope upon hope that like Alberta ( No Christy you are toasts, nothing can save you or the Liberal brand) that they are wrong like they were in Alberta.

We can also hope that Quebecers waken from the nightmare that is their summer election and vote a little common sense rather than an expensive referendum.

There has been no beating around the bush in this campaign from Marois, if she gets elected she is taking the fight to Ottawa immediately.

Marois and her party will do anything to create the dreaded “winning conditions” that will send her province and the country into the great separatist divide.

At a time when the whole world is not only reporting economic turmoil but the potential for war, Canada can ill afford to get side tracked by this nonsense.

I hope though that Prime Minister Harper is ready with his dukes up should the need arise.

Canada cannot give into any separatist demands. This is not the time.

But it’s not too late and hopefully “money and the ethnic vote” are standing by ready to send the separatists packing again.

What do you think will be the outcome of the Quebec election?

Kevin Falcon Retires from Politics or Does He?

I am going to spend time with my family now so that when I take off to Ottawa in a couple of years they will remember who I am!

Kevin Falcon announced this morning that he was stepping down from his ministerial positions effective immediately, serving out his term and leaving politics to spend time with his family and the new-born expected in February.

Admirable to be sure.

Also a definite shot at the Christy Clark leadership.

It could also be paving the way for a run at a Federal Conservative seat in 2015.( The newborn will be 2 by then)

Where will he run? The in the process of being created new federal seat in the soon to be called Electoral District Association of Surrey Cloverdale, that’s where.

By leaving now he escapes the slaughter that will be known as the May 2013 provincial election where the BC Liberals will almost certainly be wiped out.

What do you think, Is Kevin Falcon preparing for loftier goals?

Ontario VS. Alberta- Why is One Broke and the Other Not!

Geez Alison you made me look bad again!

A little different twist today. I have borrowed this from a family friend and thought I would share it with all of you. You could easily interchange BC and Clark for Ontario and get the same result!
What do you think?

ONTARIO

The Premier of Ontario is jogging with his dog along a nature trail.
A coyote jumps out and attacks the Premier’s dog, then bites the Premier.
The Premier starts to intervene, but reflects upon the movie “Bambi” and then realizes he should stop because the coyote is only doing what is natural.
He calls animal control .. Animal Control captures the coyote and bills the Province $200 testing it for diseases and $500 for relocating it.
The Premier goes to hospital and spends $3,500 getting checked for diseases from the coyote and on getting his bite wound bandaged.
The running trail gets shut down for 6 months while Fish & Game conducts a $100,000 survey to make sure the area is now free of dangerous animals.
The Premier spends $50,000 in Provincial funds implementing a “coyote awareness program” for residents of the area.
The Provincial Legislature spends $2 million to study how to better treat rabies and how to permanently eradicate the disease throughout the world.
The Premier’s security agent is fired for not stopping the attack.
The Province spends $150,000 to hire and train a new agent with additional special training re: the nature of coyotes.
PETA protests the coyote’s relocation and files a $5 million suit against the Province.
ALBERTA
Premier Alison Redford is jogging with her dog along a nature trail. A Coyote jumps out and attacks the dog.
The Premier’s security agent shoots the coyote and keeps jogging. The Premier has spent $0.50 on a .45 ACP hollow point cartridge.
The Crows eat the dead coyote.

And that, my friends, is why ONTARIO is broke and ALBERTA is not.
