The US Election :The election was decided by Campaign Management ! #uspoli #canpoli #bcpoli

Kellyanne Conway and her team won the election for Trump!
Kellyanne Conway and her team won the election for Trump!

Yogi Berra probably said good management doesn’t matter until it does and he would have been right on the money in the US election.

Kellyanne Conway out played, out coached and out smarted the team managing the Hillary Clinton Campaign.

To Wit:

Clinton”s Team missed the key element of the election:

In the nomination stage of this campaign it was very apparent that something dramatic was happening. At the rallies held by the Trump people , attendees were enraged at the establishment. That was the story of the day then as it is now.

Surprisingly during the election Clinton’s team didn’t take that seriously and every time they pulled out another establishment person to endorse Hilary I think it played into Trump’s hand and put another nail in the Clinton coffin.

Bad Debate Management

When I watched the debate Clinton listened very intently to Trump speaking and laying out his plan. This may have been okay in the first debate but she should have been coached not to do this . Why ? Because listening to him that intently gave his ideas credibility.

Bad poll Interpretation

Remember as you have heard throughout the campaign there are two so called sets of polls ; the external ones you read in the paper (more on those in another blog post) and the ones the candidate commissions .

Trump’s team read their numbers better ( why else would they spend the last weekend in Michigan) while Clinton’s team slipped up and never showed up in Wisconsin .

Bad Scandal Management

Clinton had a chance to come clean when the debate question scandal broke . She should have fired campaign chair John Podesta and said sorry to the American public then. By not doing that this just reinforced the public distrust in her.

Clinton’s team never laid out a vision or introduced her to the public.

You might not like Donald trump but at least you know who he was and where he stood. In fact this is another place where Clinton’s team played into Conway’s hands. They spent far too much time Trump bashing and not enough time introducing Hillary and laying out her vision. In fact the first time I saw the real Hillary Clinton I believe was in her concession speech this morning. Had her team showed that side of her she would have connected with more of the public.

This election was close. Numerous states turned on a percentage or two.

Good campaign management made the difference and Kellyanne Conway and her team are to be commended!

Don’t you think?

Donald Trump: The most talked about political story in 2015 , 2016 and maybe 2017 #uspoli #canpoli #trump #election2016 #bcpoli #republican

Everybody talked about me last year and they are certainly going to talk about me this year and if I get my way 2017!

Love him or hate him, one thing is for sure; you talked about him in 2015.

From mainstream media,to bloggers through Facebook and Twitter Donald Trump was all the rage.

He will be this year too!

The US election is not until November 8,2016 all but guaranteeing Trump will be in the news for eleven months of the year right?

As you look into the New Year consider this: When you are saying good bye to 2016 you will be saying either of these two things:

1) We dodged a bullet there, imagine what would have happened had Trump won OR

2) It’s only 20 more days ( Jan.20,2017 ) until Trump gets inaugurated.

Either way, you will still be talking about him and thats why Donald Trump gets the nod as the most talked about political story of last year, this year and maybe next!

The Disintegration of the Left! #bcpol #canpoli #uspoli

All over North America the left is in Trouble!

Unless something shocking happens in the US Mid Terms the Republicans will get the required number of seats ( 5) and control the Senate and we can get on with the last of Lame duck Obama’s lame duck mandate.

This will make for a woeful week for left-wing parties and government in this continent.

To wit: Monday 5 ministers resigned from the NDP Manitoba cabinet.

This says either the Premier of Manitoba is a lousy leader or they think their current tax and grab policy will not work or both.

In Ontario the name calling has already stared and if I were a betting man I would say no way to Andrea Horwath being leader of the Ontario NDP going into the next election 4 years hence.

In my province of BC most people would be hard pressed to name the Leader of the NDP even though our current BC Liberal Government has given them ample opportunity to make hay on various issues. ( I love my LNG sung to the beat of I love my MTV)

The answer if you are wondering is John Horgan who is a smart guy who for some reason doesn’t seem to be resonating with the voting public.

Federally in this country the NDP is doing a bit of a death spiral of its own not gaining any traction with the public in recent polls.

In fact if an election were held right now ( It won’t) they would most likely be sha na na’d right out of their so-called Quebec strong hold.

Soon there will be more or less no left leaning governments nor will there be a left leaning NDP opposition.

Can it get any worse for those on the left of the political spectrum?

Who Wins the Political Insider Coveted Thanksgiving Turkey Award? #bcpol #canpoli #uspoli

Who Will win the award?

On Occasion I hand out the Political Insider coveted Bonehead of the Month Award and well it’s Thanksgiving weekend so why not hand out a brand spanking new Political Insider Thanksgiving Turkey award.

I know most readers think that this is a slam dunk and that Justin Trudeau will win because he had a lousy week and he is in way over his head.

I have to admit he had his hand on the trophy and just when I thought the award was his he was beaten by a nose by Monica Hargrove.

I can hear it now ;what ,who is Monica what party does she belong to?

Just because I write a political blog doesn’t mean all the awards have to go to politicians.

Monica, bless her heart lives in Columbus Ohio , and wins the award on a number of fronts.

The local police as do police in many locations post on Facebook and newspapers outstanding warrants in hope the public will call and help them apprehend these fugitives.

In this case dear Monica was wanted for armed robbery.

Did the police get a call on Monica?

Yes ,Monica herself called because she was upset at the picture the police used because it wasn’t very flattering.

( if you are thinking smart police, they traced her cell phone and arrested her read on)

The police person who answered the call listened and said that if she didn’t like the picture ” she should come down to the station and we can talk about changing it.”

Monica came immediately and was arrested on the spot.

For this she bests Justin Trudeau for the Thanksgiving Turkey award.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

Hunter Gets Suspended for Sexual Harassment! #uspoli #canpoli #stupid

What in the world is sex?

Insanity prevails in Colorado elementary school as 6 year old Hunter Yelton got suspended from school for kissing another six year old girl on the hand during class.

The Superintendent of schools ( obviously a moron) suspended the kid and labeled it as sexual harassment.

6 years old and the kid is tagged as a sexual harasser.

It came about because other kids in the class complained to the teacher ( not the girl) who escalated the heinous crime.

Whatever happened to a good old fashioned meeting between both sets of parents and the kids to explain that this kind of behavior was wrong? (should the little girl actually be afraid of Hunter you might find that out during that discussion)

Whatever happened to good old fashion common sense?

Why are morons in charge of school systems. ( this one should have been sent home himself)

The story, due to the stupidity of the aforementioned bureaucrat has gone viral and the school has since recanted and Hunter can return to school.

What next?

Political Insider asks: Where were you November 22,1963? #bcpoli #canpoli #uspoli #jfk

Where were you November 22,1963?

It’s fitting that the word nation plays a big role in the word assassination as the events of November 22,1963 ( 50 years ago) certainly gripped not only the U.S. nation but the whole world.

I was a kid, 7 years old and I remember like it was yesterday all the pomp and circumstance leading up to the presidential visit to Dallas.

Even with two TV stations and a pair of rabbit ears all you heard about was the visit.

Speaking of rabbits, I remember what I was doing when the fateful moments occurred.

I was living in Winnipeg and either sick or home for lunch sitting in front of the TV watching a Daffy Duck cartoon on the Bugs Bunny show when the station cut in and pretty much preempted your life for the next little while.

Even at 7, I remember shedding tears and watching the whole thing with utter amazement.

I remember the funeral as I watched it on a friends TV ( the Saunders family actually) and how sad it was.

Imagine as in the image above a 3 year old boy saluting at his owns fathers funeral ( He would later meet with his own grisly death in a terrible airplane accident).

As a kid I remember wondering if I would experience this again in my lifetime. ( That year I had already had my first experience with unplanned death as my young friend Denise was run over by a car more or less in front of me. Her lifeless body under the front wheel of the car still haunts me today as I am sure it does the women who ran her over and Mrs. Small my former kindergarten teacher who tried to save her.)

Little did I know it would only take 5 years and JFK’s brother would suffer the same fate ( I was in bed sleeping, my mother woke me to tell me ) as would Martin Luther king Jr. ( Hawks and Bruins hockey game preempted).

Fifty years ago the world changed for this young kid in a way I never would have thought possible.

Other children experienced a far worse life altering event back in 1914 when an certain Austrian prince was shot off an horse leading to the start of the first world war.

But that was the event for my young times.

Do you remember what you were doing on that fateful day?

The State of Washington Goes to Pot!

Romney: Given tonight’s numbers and my gaffe filled campaign I am on the next flight to Washington State to smoke some of that pot they legalized!

Big news tonight!

Obama wins the election by 100 Electoral Votes and Marijuana was legalized in Washington State and Colorado.

It will be interesting to see the economic implications in Canada for both of these results.

During the run up to the election, polling seemed to show that the women’s vote was going to back Romney. That didn’t happen.

If you read my blog yesterday,I predicted both the outcome of the election and that the women would not support the Republican ticket.

Nobody should be shocked at the numbers tonight.Romney ran one of the most gaffe filled campaigns in US history and both him and his running mate couldn’t even carry their own states.

I will have more tomorrow once some solid numbers come in but I will leave you with this.

The Republicans took on a wounded, lame duck president without a vision for the next 4 years. Obama will now have a free ride as a lame duck because the Republicans will be too busy bickering over what went wrong and who will get the next nomination.

What went wrong was this: In the run up to the nomination Romney was the lesser of all the evils candidate. If the whole party couldn’t get behind him enthusiastically, how on earth did they think the country would?

That and the discussion about religion and abortion. It will bite you every time!

Whether you want to hear it or not, the 2016 election has already begun.

Stay tuned.

US Election 2012: It’s All About the Ground Game and Some Final Thoughts!

One More Sleep….

So on this eve of this historic ( they always say elections are historic) what will determine the outcome? Will it be, as they say, who gets out the vote better that determines the outcome in 2012?

Being as the Republicans wrote the book on Get Out The Vote ( henceforth known as GOTV) the Democrats better hope not. ( I know in 2008 the Democrats won this game but polls showed it was going to be a big win and most Republicans stayed home and licked their wounds.)

I can make that statement because as a Canadian Conservative I can tell you we have been using a facsimile of that book for our successful election campaigns of the past few years.

There are of course more factors than simply getting out the vote that determine an election outcome each unique to a specific election .

To Wit: When the race is close there is nothing like a good old fashion hurricane to get people to stand up and take notice of their politicians.

If you believe the mainstream media, the nod goes to Barack Obama for his handling of the recent crisis.

However it’s 2012 and as I have said before and so have countless others people want politics done differently and the nod might go to the Republicans for the way in which New Jersey Governor Chris Christie handled Obama and the situation. People might think this is a breath of fresh air and give the Romney team some support it hadn’t counted on.

If you believe what I have said about people wanting to do politics differently than you don’t have to look much farther than the stump speeches Romney and Obama have made in the last few days.

Romney has made speeches that detail Obama breaking this promise and that promise while Obama touts working together with people and families.

I think Obama has been saying what people want to hear lately more than Romney unless of course you believe they both have been preaching to the converted so to speak.

Ironic in that earlier in the campaign Romney offered the positive vision while Obama went negative and attacked.

Jobs and the economy will get people up and off the couches to vote. In the past week Obama got good news on the job front but he still broke his promise on cutting the deficit in half. Do people care? About jobs yes, about the deficit,no.

What does America need right now? Bold leadership with a vision that Romney can offer. He has the experience to get the job done.

Will they get that?

No.

I think they will get 4 more years of Obama and it won’t be quite as close as everybody thinks.

Why? Because Republican VP hopeful Paul Ryan showed his inexperience and made women feel stupid with his abortion discussion during the Vice Presidential debate.

Watch the exit polls on women’s voting tomorrow. They will determine the election outcome in 2012.

It will be THE STORY.

What do you think?

US Election Too Close to Call!

US Election: We have a Horse Race!

The latest polls are showing Obama and Romney neck and neck in this coming Tuesday’s election.

There is all sorts of speculation and suggestions on what could happen.

As I related in an earlier post there is even talk of a split White House with Romney as the President and Biden as the Vice President.

It could go down to the so-called swing states. Those states are: Wisconsin,Virginia,Ohio,Florida,New Hampshire,Iowa,Pennsylvania,Nevada and Colorado.

If you live in the Eastern United States or Eastern Canada you could be up late.

There are ramifications for the Canadian Economy too. The Democrats are known to be more protectionist than the Republicans. We shall see.

The other thing that could have an impact on the Canadian economy are the votes regarding the legalization of marijuana. Polls show in the state of Washington, for example, that the pro pot vote might win.

The great Canadian excuse for not legalizing the drug is that it would hurt relations with the US. This of course would no longer be an issue if they voted to legalize. The other thing worthy of note is the BC is responsible for a large amount of sales in Washington.

This would no longer be the case as they would be able to grow their own.

The impact on the BC economy could be quite shocking.

All in all it will be a very interesting night. Political Insider will be there to sort through all the news.

Stay tuned!

What do you think will happen?

Post Debate Reaction !

Biden: Even when the Democrats lose we win!

The debate tonight was once again close and this and Obama won on experience but Romney held his own and showed calm cool leadership when he was on the hot seat.

The quick and dirty CNN post-debate poll showed the score to be 48-40 Obama but the big question out there is ” will it have any impact 15 days from now?”

The Obama record is mixed and Romney and company have very little experience on the foreign policy front.

In the series of debates Romney bested Obama on the key questions of Economy and leadership.

This election is too close to call which in itself is a shock given how far ahead poll wise Obama was at one point.

Interestingly enough if the votes in the electoral college turn out to be tie, there is a scenario making the rounds that could have Romney as the President and Biden as the Vice President.

If the republicans kept control of the house and the Democrats kept control of the Senate, Biden would get to vote himself as VP under ans Electoral College tie of 269-269.

Can you imagine the log jam and mess the US would be in if that happened?

What do you think will happen on election day?
