BC Liberals: The Court Rules Against Them What Next? #bcpoli #canpoli

Clark: I wish I could just wave my hands and make this all go away!

So where do both parties go next in wake of last weeks court ruling in favor of the teachers over the BC Liberal Government?

If you believe the leaderless NDP ( Horgan is still still thinking and although everybody is afraid to say it,Mike Farnworth would be a disaster) they want all cabinet documents relating to the case released for the public to read.

Of course if the BC Liberals took them up on that they might include cabinet documents from the last NDP government ramming through the un-debated contracts that the Liberals tore up that got us unto this mess.( they won’t try to hard to make this happen and should be careful what they wish for)

If you believe the government, through Minister Fassbender, they haven’t had time to review the decision ( not sleeping and reviewing it over and over in your nightmares not withstanding) and are trying to buy time.

They can’t just say yes we were wrong and write a check on behalf of the taxpayers, after-all our fearless Finance Minister Mike de Jong has been touring the province ( gimme a break) telling people the budget will be balanced albeit it will be razor thin ( gimme another break) as long as the heavens line up.

So stroking a 2 million cheque will throw a huge screw into those plans not just this year but down the road too. ( hiring teachers and adding portables will come at a higher cost than that)

So what’s left?

1) BC Liberals will lay low until after the budget. ( they will have help in that next week the federal government will bring down their budget and take up most news space).

2) File an appeal based again on the former NDP governments aforementioned legislation.( This has been central to the case up until this point anyway)

3) Expect no help from our fearless Premier ( assuming in her heart she’s not a teacher). Clark was the Education Minister in 2002 when the contracts were torn up.

4) Once again give the old family first agenda another swift kick after all the taxpayers will ultimately pay for all this incompetence from both parties.

Did I leave anything out?

Rumour Du Jour- BCNDP Leadership Contest #bcpoli #canpoli #bcndp

Goodbye Tommy Mulcair; it was fun while it lasted!

The Rumor Mill is working over time trying to generate some interst in the BCNDP Leadership race.( Is there one? )

Today overheard more than once the rumour of Kennedy Stewart leaving federal politics and throwing his hat in the provincial ring.

In case you don’t know who Kennedy is, go here.

Kennedy could stand a few lessons in bio writing as evidenced here. ( Whoever said there is no I in team)

If true, that would add to the rumor list of defecting federal NDPers supposedly leaving.

Stories out of Toronto have already been spreading that Olivia Chow will leave to take on Toronto mayor Rob Ford.

This spells bad news for Tom Mulcair and his party who see Justin Trudeau and his crew in their rear view mirror who lock to be a lock to become official opposition in 2015.

Hearing this rumor one would imagine Christy Clark must be shaking in her boots! ( sarcasm intended)

Nice Continent This North America Eh! #bcpoli #canpoli #usapoli

I am telling the Truth sir, there is nothing going on in North America!

It’s only fair if Jeffrey Simpson of the Globe and Mail can write about discussions with his Uncle Fred on Galiano Island, I can at least report on discussions our alien friends are having this week as it relates to North America.

I can only imagine what one Alien Underling would report to his Commander on the goings on ( or not ) on our continent in the last week.

It would go something like this:

Commander: What have you to report from your post overseeing North America?

Underling: Nothing.

Commander : What do you mean nothing, that cannot be !

Underling: It is so, this week.

Commander : Explain yourself or be replaced!

Underling: Sir in the USA everything is closed, the government is shut down. They were discussing something called ObamaCare but one side just walked away shutting down the government. Right now the man named Obama who seems to be the inventor of the care is threatening them with a debt ceiling whatever that is. They are not listening. I think it should be called Obamawedon’tcare!

Commander: Surely something must be happening in Canada?

Underling: No Sir the man they call the Prime Minister has prorogued parliament. That means in a sense they too are shut down.

Commander : What about in your favorite place to report from BC, surely there is something to report there. Nary a week goes by without Premier Clark and her government getting themselves in some sort of trouble?

Underling: Not this week sir. Premier Clark refuses to open the government’s place of business and has herself pretty much gone into hiding.

Commander: Into hiding?

Underling : Yes sure she tried for some sort of thing called a quick win and is now being investigated by something called the RCMP.

Commander: What happens if she is found guilty

Underling : I am not sure sir. By all reports the RCMP shot somebody with a 3 inch knife 9 times and tasered him. I can’t imagine what they would do for quick winning.

Commander : Is there anything on the horizon that you will be reporting on other than nothing?

Underling : yes I have heard of something called a BC Conservative AGM……..

Christy Clark: In My Heart I Want A Bridge #bcpoli #canpoli

What’s in this Premier’s heart this week?

Hot on the heels of my post last week, who is the worst premier, BC Premier Christy Clark returns to center stage with her speech saying that construction will begin in 2017 with a new bridge to replace the George Massey Tunnel.

So where will the money come from, who will pay, why do we need it and what’s in it for Clark.

When asked the cost the premier had no idea nor did she allude to how we were going to pay for it. She simply said that it will be along the same lines as the Port Mann Bridge.

No doubt there will be tolls because as we all know by now , in her heart BC Premier Clark runs a toll booth with the tolling of the Port Mann and the Golden Ears.

What else is in it for Clark? The next election is in 2017 and if shovels hit ground Clark will be able to snag votes from those commuters who will thank her in kind by reelecting or electing new BC liberal MLAs.

Those for the project go on the record and say that the bridge will be built for a couple of reasons firstly that the existing tunnel only has a life span of about 10 years and might cause a little mayhem in the event of an earthquake.

Secondly they say that replacing the tunnel with a bridge will allow for more ships to pass by.

Most people gloss right over that with a typical for sure it will.

What you should be asking and what is key to what’s in it for Clark is what will be on those ships that the new bridge will allow to pass.

If you said oil and gas you would know really what’s in it for Clark and why she will stop at nothing to get it.

Kinda like building a pipeline with the end piece first, isn’t it?

She wouldn’t do that would she?

Who is the Worst Premier in Canada? #bcpoli #canpoli

This is no laughing matter!

As we head into a new week in this the silly season ( two days ago I was in shorts, today I looked for a parka, right now an ark) I thought it a good time to ask just who is the worst premier in Canada?

Could it be Christy Who? You know the premier who in her heart has vanished, shut down the legislature until spring?

Could it be Pauline, let’s have a secular treaty and see what that does for our economy and for our chances of re-election?

Could it be *Kathleen Wynne whose policies are killing the Ontario economy and who threatened the two other parties propping up her minority government with an election she would surely lose.

Tough choices to be sure.

For the time being I give the nod to Marios and Wynne two premiers who are turning Canada’s largest provinces and the supposed economic drivers into have-nots.

How about you?

* Wynne had help from a man named McGuinty but she is continuing his tradition.

Political Insider Calls By-Election in Favor of Christy Clark! #bcpoli #canpoli

The BC Hydro File will quickly wipe the smile of of Clark’s face!

With 35% of the polls reporting and Christy Clark getting 61% of the vote, I think we can safely say that the by-election is over and now the province can get down to the business of watching Clark govern.

She’s got some fancy dancing to do given the hefty increases that are purported to be in the works on the BC Hydro file.

It should not be a tough task for her and Minister Bennet.

As has been reported over and over ad nauseum during the waste of taxpayers money known as the by-election: It only takes Clark 5 minutes to get familiar with a file.

She’ll need every second of that 5 minutes because that’s the file that will cause the government and by extension the taxpayers the big headaches over the next few years,

Get ready because the increases are coming courtesy of the just voted in Clark and the BC Liberal-Bc Hydro deferral accounts.

Stay tuned!

Adrian Dix Blames Election Loss on those who moved on because they lost their jobs! #bcpoli #canpoli #bcndp

Adrian Dix: A Leader I am Not!

As crazy as it sounds, today,at the weekend conference of blame the BCNDP is holding to determine what went wrong during the May election,Adrian Dix blamed a large part of the loss on those folks who are blue collar workers and NDP supporters who lost their jobs and moved on .

This is a totally illogical statement coming from the man who, without warning, changed his position on the Kinder Morgan project which surely cost them the election. In fact it still has not occurred to Adrian that by opposing this project it would result in the loss of more of those blue collar jobs he has accused the BC Liberals of scaring off.

In fact if the BCNDP wants some hindsight into why they lost they should simply read Gary Mason’s excellent column in the Globe. It details for the most part why the Liberals won and how they came back from the dead.

From my work in the field during the election,Mason only left out one part of the NDP defeat and it was it important and it was this : After the Kinder Morgan fiasco which led to Dix’s lousy performance at the debate, my field operatives started reporting to me that Dix’s people has told them that Dix was such a wimpster they were staying home and were not prepared to vote for him.

The NDP,instead of putting the election on cruise control, should have been hammering the Liberals on their record and their litany of scandals.

As for the debate, BC Conservative leader John Cummin’s first line had a prophetic vision attached to it, just not in the way we thought. If you recall he said: You are tuned in tonight because you know Christy Clark and the BC Liberals are going to lose the election and you want to see what kind of premier Adrian Dix will make.

The people saw alright and what resulted was a BC Liberal majority!

Pigs at the Trough! #bcpoli #canpoli

BC Liberal Spending gets Public Upset!

In a continuation of the theme from yesterday’s blog post ( and every newspaper I have seen) people are very upset at the pay hikes given out by the Christy Clark government before they were even sworn in.

Phone lines were jammed on the talk shows this morning with people calling in to show their disgust. Kind of reminded me of those same calls that came in over the HST. You recall that episode was not to pretty for the BC Liberals.

People said after the election that Clark was a good campaigner but a lousy governor and she would revert to the later quickly. I don’t think anybody realized how quickly it would start.

You would have thought that in the name of screwing the people over they would have at least waited until after that election was done.

Except that Clark and her team are extremely smug and arrogant and could care less about what the people think.

Patronage and payback are at the top of her list. ( More on that in a later post)

This event in itself shows that she really doesn’t get it.

The voters in Westside-Kelowna ought to do her and her government a favor a teach her a harsh lesson now.

They should show their angst for both losing the MLA they voted for a few weeks back and for this terrible act of managing the taxpayers money.

They should take advantage of this golden opportunity and vote against her.

A loss here will no doubt cause the party to give her the boot and just maybe they will get their act together and get a good leader that believes in honesty and transparency.

But then this is BC and these are the BC Liberals so who knows what they would do.

The Christy Clark Team: Let the Spending Begin! #bcpoli #canpoli

New BC Liberal Cabinet, same old Sneaky BS!

Even before they were sworn in, the new Christy Clark Government signed an order in cabinet giving raises to some of their highest ranking insider bureaucrats!

This sneaky act comes at at time when not only did they promise transparency but as Clark was publicly telling then to watch spending.

She obviously speaks out of both sides of her mouth.

I can only imagine the reaction of the teachers when they are told to shut up , sign the 10 year contract and that there is no money for salary increases or the seniors who have to cough up the new user fee for the wheelchairs to pay for these raises.

Where on earth is the BCNDP while all this is going on? Are they not the opposition?

Given their disastrous results in the election ( they were supposed to win the polls said), you would think they would be all over this.

Unless of course they are busy licking their wounds!
