While the Premier dithers on,the court rules against her TV broadcasts!

Come On Caller,I might be doing a Faux Throne Speech, but call by-elections?

In a ruling that was not shocking, given the judges comments last week,Provincial Court Judge Malcolm MacLean tossed out the application to televise the riot trials today.

This following a morning of listening to the Premier on the radio telling the world she is going to review this and review that.

She has been on the job for 11 months and she is just getting around to reviewing the processes that most people have been complaining about for some time.

She had a great chance to show leadership on the issue of by-elections,but of course she didn’t. She said she would get around to calling them soon.

If you live in Chilliwack or Port Moody, the Premier just “Whatever’d ” you. How did that make you feel?

Nope, Her interview this morning was classic Paul Martin, lots of dithering, little substance.

If you thought B.C. politics were screwed up…….

Premier Alison REDford

If you thought BC politics were screwed up,head on over to Alberta for a few minutes.

This week, Premier Alison REDford and her Conservative team brought in an NDP style budget this week.

This is the Premier who recently took over the Conservative Leadership from RED Stelmach.

Wildrose leader and hopefully next premier of the province,Danielle Smith, referred to the current premier as Alison in Wonderland, largely because of all the high expenditures and no tax increases to pay for them.

In that vernacular, when Premier REDford fell down the rabbit hole and stumbled on the Mad Hatter she must have been shocked. In this case the Mad Hatter would be none other than former banished Conservative turned Liberal leader Raj Sherman.

Liberal Sherman promptly accused REDford of not having a Conservative enough budget. He also said she should have balanced it.

So in Alberta you have a Conservative Liberal telling a Liberal Conservative how to do the books.

And you thought BC was screwed up!

Alison you should have balanced the budget, shame on you!

B.C.Liberals to Chilliwack:We want to buy your vote,is it for sale?

My name is Naomi and I would like to buy your vote!

In another brazen demonstration of old school politics, the B.C.Liberals went to Chilliwack in an attempt to buy off the voters.

Ever since they have appointed their candidate for the yet to be called by-election they have had minister upon minister make an appearance here.

Are they running scared?

Yes; sources tell Political Insider that the B.C. Liberals own internal polling shows them losing this riding badly.

So much so that the Premier has not yet called this by-election.

We wonder when that will happen. This district wants to be represented in the legislature.

It’s only fair!

What do you think?

You weren’t gonna smoke that and go for a drive were you Bob?

Marijuana Liberal Leader lecturing membership at the convention.

Word comes today from a study done in Canada that the drug that the Marijuana Liberal Party proposed to legalize might not be a safe as everybody thinks.

In fact the study says that driving while on pot actually doubles crash risk.

I wonder how Marijuana Bob and newly nominated candidate Grant Gordon will address that while campaigning on the hustings in Toronto-Danforth?

Rumors Eh! BS more like it. Surrey mayor Watts denies rumour she is gunning for Conservative leadership

It must have been a slow news day at the Surrey Now what with them running a figment of somebody’s imagination about the Mayor of Surrey gunning for BC Conservative leader John Cummins’s job.

Not only that, you would think with all the shootings in Surrey ( as recently as today),the Now would have better choice of words than gunning in the headline.

The rumor this writer hears is that the B.C. Liberals, in an attempt to salvage their party, are said to be reaching out to the Mayor to replace Christy Clark who has lost traction with the voting public.

That would be like asking a different ships captain to hop aboard the Titanic and replace the existing one after the boat has started to take on water and tilt.

Not gonna happen either, not even in the Now’s wildest imagination.

THEY PULLED THE STORY

SURREY – If Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts is planning to bump B.C. Conservative leader John Cummins out of his job, nobody has bothered to tell her about it – or Cummins, for that matter.

Asked about a rumour that she’s seeking Cummins’ job, Watts responded with laughter.

“I haven’t even given it any thought,” she said Tuesday. “If there’s not a rumour started by 10 o’clock, better start one,” she laughed.

The rumour was news to Cummins, too.

“I hadn’t heard the leadership is up for grabs,” he said Tuesday. “As far as I know, there’s no movement afoot to replace me.”

A recent Angus Reid poll indicates that while the B.C. Conservative Party has gained some ground (up one percent, to 19 per cent) in popularity, Cummins’ popularity had dropped by a point.

According to the poll, NDP leader Adrian Dix enjoys 26 per cent of the vote in the “preferred premier” category, up seven per cent since November, while Liberal Premier Christy Clark has dropped three points to 22 per cent, Cummins dropped one point to eight per cent, and Green Party Leader gained one point, to three per cent.

The polling company interviewed 800 British Columbian men and women between Jan. 27 to 29. The poll results have a margin error of plus/minus 3.5 per cent.

BC Liberals Gaffe, tell Chilliwack folks they take their vote for granted!

Another day, another act of stupidity on behalf of the BC Liberals.

In another gaffe that will more than likely come back to bite them, the BC Liberals and their spokesperson tell Chilliwack voters that their vote doesn’t matter because the by-election race is a two way race and that the BC Conservative party is a non factor.

It is a sad day in the province when the governing party or any party for that matter takes a voters intentions for granted.

The BC Liberal Spokesperson also reports that the Premier will be the keynote speaker at their candidates acclimation tonight.

Given the way her approval ratings have been sinking lately, her Federal Liberal ties and her penchant for photo-ops,the lucky winner would probably rather be anywhere other than on stage next to her.

Spokesperson Jehnifer Benoit goes on to say that” this election will be fought on the economy, creating jobs and managing taxpayers money”.

I would imagine that by economy our fearless spokesperson would mean debt load, which of course is worse under the Liberals than under the NDP.

The fact that anybody could manage an economy worse than the NDP is a discussion best left for another day.

On the issue of creating jobs, reports released this week show those numbers to be down considerably.

I also believe the taxpayers have already put their seal of approval on how the BC Liberals manage their money when they voted en-mass to throw out the HST.

So I think Ms.Benoit should be careful what she wishes the election might be fought on.

If her wish comes true, she won’t like the result!

Just when the B.C.Liberals thought it couldn’t get any worse…….

Along comes former Premier Gordon Campbell and his Red Mittens taking center stage in the run-up to the London Olympics. In his roll as Canadian high commissioner to the United Kingdom,Campbell was out promoting “Canada House”

Columnist Michael Smyth chose today to write an excellent column that discussed whether the BC Liberals have passed their best before date.

Vaughn Palmer, not to be outdone, steps in with a discussion on whether the good ship B.C. Liberal has hit rock bottom.

This comes on the heels of the previous days column relating to the recent poll results.

The Premier would not have time to read any of this, because as she likes to say, that would take away from the business of thinking about jobs. The Financial Post gives her some food for thought on that topic today when it reveals that the BC Job market shed 2,200 jobs in January.

This has not been a good week for the Premier, the government, the BC Liberals and especially the Province. This government has passed their best before date but unfortunately has not hit rock bottom. That will more than likely occur the night of the by-elections when they will undoubtedly finish in third place in both cases.

If they don’t do something to create renewal in the province before then, they will have wasted more precious time defending their short comings.

British Columbia can ill afford that!

BC Conservative John Martin Says ” It’s time for a Full Time Attorney General!

BC Conservative John Martin hits the nail on the head by declaring this province needs a full-time Attorney General.

Lets take a look.

Firstly ,Minister Bond, probably still has her hands full cleaning up the mess(es) left behind by disgraced former Ministers Heed and Les over at the Solicitor Generals office, her other part-time job!.

If that isn’t enough to keep any two people busy, the Attorney General’s qualifications are now being investigated by an outside law firm appointed by the law society.

I would also expect Minister Shirley also has her fingers and toes crossed with this weeks visit to Ottawa by Minister Polak in her meeting with National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations, Shawn Atleo. ( You remember how Minister Polak was taken to court over problems in the Ministry of Children and Family Development)

That is if she has any fingers and toes left to cross after all the problems with the Basi Virk File.

Makes you wonder, when the Minister takes her next call on the Hockey Riot file,if she will remember which hat to wear.

There must be days when Minister Bond feels like she is a at the PNE bashing the rubber gophers over the head with a mallet.

John Martin is bang on,the Province needs a full time Attorney General.

What do you think?

What would it be like to be Kevin Falcon?

Can you imagine what it would be like to be Kevin Falcon?

-You are a quasi Conservative playing second fiddle to a Federal Liberal!
-You are A Finance Minister who doesn’t know if the budget will be balanced.
-You are the Premiers designated fall guy for the HST
-You are overruled by your own department when you want to release a $780,000 pamphlet your government opted for tossing in the garbage.
-You read the polls and know that no matter how much of this mess you are tasked with cleaning up,the people who put you and your government in office are getting ready to fire you.

Right about now ,if you were Kevin Falcon, you are probably wishing you had somebody of your own you could throw under the proverbial bus!

More dirty politics from Quebec.

We are truly fortunate that the leader of the PQ is so awful, that even 7 of her MNA’s have left and joined another party. We are extremely lucky that a lot of things members vote on at Annual General Meetings of political parties in this country don’t actually make it on to an election platform and get brought into law.

To wit:Yesterday members at a PQ AGM voted a resolution that would allow John Q or Jean Q citizen to launch a citizen led referendum into independence.

What is wrong with this is that ( Other than referendums are very costly) this resolution could lead the very political party that proposed it to putting one of their own members up to launching a referendum so that they may distance themselves form it when it blows up in their faces.

These are the same people that only a week ago shanked potential leadership candidate Duceppe in the back when it appeared he was considering taking a run at Marois and her leadership.

This is more sleazy dirty politics from the people that told the world they lost the last referendum because of money and the ethnic vote.

Where did Ms.Marois stand in all this? No where, she waited until after the vote to join party members on the floor. Her leadership is so bad that that if she had taken a stance on this or any issue the party would have given her the middle finger and voted the opposite way.

Speaking of waving the middle finger, you should all do that to the Globe and Mail but I will leave that to Dean Skoreyko over at BC Blue to tell you why!
