Government Staff Appreciation Programs in Action !

I wish I could say I am shocked,but I am not.

I am not sure what is worse, the government having a 1.5 million dollar staff appreciation program or Linda Terras head of the B.C Public Service agency defending the program by saying it ONLY works out to $52 per employee.

This was uncovered in an excellent piece of reporting by Michael Smyth.

As John Cummins ,leader of the BC Conservatives , points out in the piece, there are a number of different ways the program can be abused.

This comes on the heels of Mr.Smyth’s excellent series on Bullying in the government.

It makes you wonder what else is going on and why the people we elected are doing nothing about it.

Mr and Mrs.Taxpayer" It's only $52 per employee,who cares"

  1. Their must be a communications error from the government to the employees. As a tax-paying government employee in emergency health care, I have not received any notice of the program, nor could I find it on any links to my workplace web-site. No notifications via e-mail. I’ll keep searching. If I find it and am a qualified, I’ll make sure the Premier gets a lump of coal.

This is another foolish waste that will be attributed to back the statement “We are increasing spending on government programs like health-care and education.”

We need a strong BC Conservative party in power to make sure spending is done in a prudent manner.

    1. Thank you for your insight and for taking the time to both read and comment on my blog. Please let me know if you find anything!

    2. I am a BC Government Employee (12Years) and I too cannot find anything about this so called appreciation money. I heard on the news today that you do not need managers approval.. I have never heard of anything in government that didn’t need manager approval. Not sure where this money is but would like to find it.

      1. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and comment. Please let me know if you find it. The Premier mentioned yesterday they were going to fix it and then changed her mind but who knows.
