Polls show Alberta is getting ready to Clean house and sweep the left leaning PC government from power.
Meanwhile over in BC. Polls show left lite is going to be swept from power and replaced with a hard left leaning government.
Maybe BC’ers should pay attention and join the Alberta express and pitch out both Left parties,BC Liberals and NDP.
With over 12 months until a general election and the BC Conservatives surging, anything is possible.
Maybe then we would get a handle on taxes and get our cost of living in order.
As is now, if the BC trend continues expect a mass exodus of our citizens to the land of Zero sales tax.
What do you think?
Is that the right way to go?
I can’t agree with you, Poli. The federal Liberals (LPC) might be Left Lite, but our home-grown BC Lieberals (BCL) are more like a junta commanding some tinpot dictatorship. BCL is more similar to the federal Conservative (CPC) party than to the New Democrats (NDP) .
BCL and CPC are close to peas in a pod. Some quick similarities here —
both are
Uninterested in: the truth; facts (I don’t need no stinkin’ facts); environment; fair and ethical taxation; preservation of institutions that basically define Canada; future economic and infrastructure development (read export of unenhanced raw logs, unrefined petroleum from the tar sands.)…. The list is long….
Interested in: ideologic agenda (don’t confuse me with facts), promotion of the interests of their corporate benefactors (including obscene tax breaks and subsidies to entities and persons who don’t need them.) at the expense of those who do, off-load public resources (natural and civic) for short term gain.
Overall game plan for both: starve the economy until they “need” to start dismantling Crown Corporations, environmental protections, social, artistic, public- health and information entities (read StatsCan and CBC) in order to preserve taxpayer cash flow to to their Corporate Uberlords.
I’m not an NDPer, but their hearts are closest to where they ought to be.
I don’t necessarily disagree with you. The problem with the BC Liberals and the problem with coalitions is that ( lying, sleaze and BS aside) one side is beholden to the other side.
They trade policy and err on the side of tax and spend.
A Conservative party on its own merits has true Conservative policy. Having worked with the Federal Conservatives I can tell you the BC Liberals are nothing like that party.
The NDP no matter where their hearts are at never have rational tax policy and they never reveal their platforms until the election. So the road to the heart as you say leads through your wallet.
We can’t afford that.I think the HST revolt was a mere tip of the iceberg.People can’t afford more.
This province has to move on from the destruction of the nineties and the deceit of the 2,000’s. In my opinion neither of the NDP or the BC Liberals can do that.
